The Spiritual Concerts (Concerti Spirituali) are a historic festival series belonging to the Church “Beata Vergine del
Soccorso” and saw their 1st edition in 2008, following the initiative of then principal organist, M° Riccardo Cossi. The event was created
with the purpose of valorising the
instrument housed in the organ loft, the prestigious 1927 Mascioni Organ.
In 2013, this series became an integral part of
the musical program of the Accademia Organistica Tergestina. In addition to
focusing on the promotion of the church’s prestigious instrument, undisputed
protagonist of the entire initiative, the efforts of the Accademia have, in
turn, generated other relevant and defining missions for the showcase. These
include the dissemination of organ and sacred music, choral and musical culture
as well as the promotion of the city’s musical and instrumental heritage.
This series of concerts, which takes place on
Advent Sundays, has welcomed various performers and ensembles originating both
from the local area and from abroad. Thus, succeeding in creating a tradition
of sacred and musical preparation in anticipation of Christmas.
